Jan is a results-driven and accomplished Toyota Production System consultant and offers over 25 years experience in operations management.
Jan has successfully transformed people, processes and systems in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to joining Shinka Management, Jan worked and/or consulted for major manufacturing, automotive, logistics and transportation organisations such as Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA), Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), Britax Childcare, Saint-Gobain, Ecolab (NZ), Voith Hydro Shanghai (China) and VLine (Rail).
Jan has a strong level of operational excellence system expertise, including design, implementation and maintenance of these systems to drive performance and teamwork. Supply chain reviews, benchmarking and improvements are critical components of these systems. Jan has a Polymer Science and TPS background specialising in loss analysis, performance control systems and strategic planning in operations.
Prior to consulting Jan managed up to three major productions facilities for Saint-Gobain as General Manager Manufacturing and during this time successfully designed and implemented 5-year strategic plans, reduced scrap by 50% and successfully installing over $2.5million in capital improvements. Jan provided leadership to develop operational standards, budgets, value stream analysis, daily performance control, and labour cost reviews.
Jan holds an MBA and is fluent in both English and German.

Toyota Motor Corporation Australia – Project Work
Designed, managed and executed the successful and seamless return of 2800 lease vehicles. Led a critical supplier transition for TMCA General Affairs which included high security recall letters during Takata.
Ecolab – Project Work
Led the introduction of Total Plant Maintenance (TPM) facilitating loss analysis, performance control systems and focused improvement projects, which enabled Ecolab to better understand, monitor and plan its supply chain and operations.
Voith Hydro Shanghai – Project Work
Designed the program for a rapid output improvement project in the 780-employee facility in Shanghai focusing on bottlenecks.
Metro Train Melbourne – Project Work
Reviewed current infrastructure maintenance performance with a view to streamline and improve these. Successfully reviewed current practices and presented detailed implementation plans to realise the improvements.
Saint Gobain – General Manager Manufacturing
Responsible for 3 plants in the Asia Pacific region and led continuous improvement across all 3 plants. Developed 5-year strategic plans to improve productivity.
Plantic Technologies – Operations Manager
Introduced a successful warehouse management system, significantly increased productivity through significantly increasing output and lowering cost, and led the team that successfully turned around a global quality crisis.
