Juan Manuel Bertero | Senior Consultant

Juan is a lean consultant based in Italy, supporting European and MENA manufacturing within automotive, FMCG, pharma and mining companies.

Currently based in Italy, Juan’s lean manufacturing development stems from over a decade of experience in DENSO, a first-tier supplier to Toyota, where he held departmental management roles in Process Engineering, Process Development/NPI, and Production Engineering. These roles included employee management and development, and responsibility for plant OEE. Juan and his teams were responsible for deployment of core process improvement tools such as kaizen, six-sigma and PFMEA, as well as leading continuous improvement culture and feasibility studies for investment. In these roles Juan reported to national (Argentina), regional (South America) and corporate (Japan/Italy) management.

Juan also worked as Manufacturing Manager at DENSO, managing nine production supervisors and 300 operators. In addition to responsibility for daily production, this role also included management of autonomous maintenance at the plant and management of safety, delivery, manpower, scrap, costs and kaizen related KPIs.

Juan holds degrees as an Electronic Engineer and Electronic Technician. Juan is based in Italy and holds dual Italian and Argentinian citizenship. He is a native speaker of Spanish, is fluent in English and Italian, and has a basic communication capability in Portuguese.

Major projects included coaching and training a mining customer internal team to implement a whole-of-company lean management system, providing top-down guidance and bottom-up initiatives focusing on cultural change management, people empowerment and operational excellence with the aim of adding value and satisfying internal and external customers.
