Lean Special Interest Group – Perth Event

A Lean Special Interest Group networking event is planned for Wednesday, 30th of September at Absolute Balustrades. The meeting will include a site tour of Absolute Balustrades’ Wangara factory and a presentation on the commencement of the company’s lean journey. The event is facilitated by lean consultants Shinka Management and supported by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Western Australia.


The Lean Special Interest Group networking events are run to increase awareness and proficiency in continuous improvement practices within industry, and to support staff involved in leading lean management initiatives within their organisations. The ultimate aim of the Group is to improve competitiveness of industry through skills development, efficiency gains and product quality improvements.

Networking events are open to members of industry with an interest in or currently engaged in lean manufacturing or kaizen programs.

Absolute Balustrades Site Visit

Absolute Balustrades is a WA family owned and operated business. The company was founded in 1995 by two partners determined to provide the most innovative and highest quality modular aluminium balustrade systems available. With a reputation for quality and service, ABS quickly grew to become a leader in the balustrading market, offering a wide range of aluminium, glass and stainless steel products.

Absolute Balustrades has recently commenced its lean journey. In addition to hosting the site visit, Chris Timms of Absolute Balustrades will talk about their operational excellence journey to date, and share their experience in implementing a lean culture at their company.

The site visit will conclude with networking over drinks.

Schedule and RSVP

The event will be held on Wednesday 30th of September 2015 from 3:30pm (for a 3:45pm start) to 6:00pm at Absolute Balustrades, 73 Inspiration Dr, Wangara WA.

As the event will include a facility tour, the number of participants will be limited, with RSVPs accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Companies presenting a conflict of interest with the host organisation may be ineligible to attend. Participants are asked to wear safety shoes as a PPE requirement on site.
