Lean Special Interest Group – Brisbane Event
A Lean Special Interest Group networking event is planned for Tuesday, 15th of September at Schneider Electric. The meeting will include a site tour of Schneider Electric’s Eagle Farm “Engineered to Order” manufacturing facility and its Brisbane Distribution Centre. The event will include a presentation on the Schneider Production System followed by networking.
Purpose
The Lean Special Interest Group networking events are run to increase awareness and proficiency in continuous improvement practices within industry, and to support staff involved in leading lean management initiatives within their organisations. The ultimate aim of the Group is to improve competitiveness of industry through skills development, efficiency gains and product quality improvements.
Networking events are open to members of industry with an interest in or currently engaged in lean manufacturing or kaizen training programs.
Schneider Electric Site Visit

The Schneider Brisbane Eagle Farm manufacturing area comprises 6 recloser switch gear manufacturing lines and a controller automation box line. The site tour will feature the industrial store, materials handling processes, and assembly, testing and finished goods areas. The Brisbane facility is managed using the Schneider Production System and has kanban, employee suggestion scheme and andon systems operating.
The tour will also visit the Schneider Brisbane Distribution Center, supporting regional distribution of Schneider Electric and Clipsal by Schneider products, with a capacity for 3500 pallets.
Schedule and RSVP
The event will be held on Tuesday 15th of September 2015 from 1:30pm (for a 1:45pm start) to 4:15pm at Schneider Electric, 80 Schneider Rd, Eagle Farm, QLD. The event will be facilitated by lean manufacturing consultants Shinka Management.
As the September event will include a facility tour, the number of participants will be limited, with RSVPs accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Companies presenting a conflict of interest with the host organisation may be ineligible to attend. Participants are asked to wear safety shoes as a PPE requirement on site.
