A Lean Special Interest Group networking event will be held on Tuesday, 24th of November at Jumbo Vision. The event will focus on facility layout design and 5S.

The event is run by Shinka Management and supported by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Western Australia.

The Lean Special Interest Group networking events are run to increase awareness and proficiency in continuous improvement practices within industry, and to support staff involved in leading lean management initiatives within their organisations. The ultimate aim of the Group is to improve competitiveness of industry through skills development, efficiency gains and product quality improvements.

Networking events are open to members of industry with an interest in or currently engaged in lean manufacturing or kaizen programs.

Jumbo Vision – CADwalk

Jumbo Vision International (JVI) is a Systems Integrator providing consultation, design, manufacturing, installation and support of Turnkey Technical Rooms throughout Australia and New Zealand.

An overview of Jumbo Vision’s innovative CADwalk facility will be provided, and participants will be invited to experience the application of CADwalk to manufacturing factory layout design. This immersive design technology, likened to Star Trek’s virtual reality Holodeck, has recently been awarded federal government funding for international commercialisation and expansion into Europe and North America.

Metal One Isuzu – Gifu Service Centre

Metal One Isuzu specialises in the processing and sales of cold rolled steel. Isuzu has several regional service centres in Japan for distribution of steel coil to various industries, including automotive, that demand reliable and timely service.

The company acknowledges that coil distribution is old economy and that in order to remain profitable in this mature industry the company must focus on cutting costs by boosting business efficiency.

The Isuzu Gifu Service Centre is a regular host company on the Shinka Management Lean Japan Tour, and an excellent example of the efficient use of space and application of 5S principles to support safety, quality and efficiency.

A video walk through of the tour will be given highlighting the application of 5S to the service centre. Representatives from Metal One Isuzu will join the event via video conference from the shop floor.
